Two Weeks, Part 15

August 1 to 15

A few weekends ago I went up toward Hurricane Ridge on the peninsula. There’s a campsite (Deer Park) and a peak (Blue Mountain) that you can drive right up to the top of. It’s been super hot and dry; it reminded me of Colorado. I had such a rough time living there so the memories aren’t great. Something about dry mountain dirt and fir.

I’ve been trying to get out most mornings, but honestly a lot of the time I just run out of things to do. I’m sure they exist - maybe it’s a mindset more than a practical problem - but I can only take so many repeats. One of these mornings I literally just stood in one spot and snapped various framings of this photo. Nothing popped out.

The fires in East Washington and up in BC came in, the haze did mix things up a bit. It gave everything a pinkish, unreal glow. The days after were still hazy but less pink and you could still faintly smell the smoke.

This past week was a couple of hikes and not much else. I had a tooth extraction midweek and that didn’t encourage any photography outings. Still a couple of nice shots.

Yesterday I took a motorcycle up to Windy Ridge near St Helens. There’s a waterfall at the 2599 junction - Iron Falls, maybe? - and I got this. It’s a three shot pano, thought it turned out well. Maybe a neat way to do square format on the Leica.

It’s been a quieter month. I almost didn’t post…this is just kind of keeping a log of life in lieu of a bunch of stuff happening. The rest of the year is going to be big so just taking a rest when we can.
